Career Beginnings is introducing a new innovative Mentoring Program that will consist of matching individuals that have expressed an interest in a particular area of the business sector with individuals who are currently performing those job duties. Unlike most traditional mentoring programs, our mentors will not have an age or year of service requirement. The overall purpose is to a platform to have an exchange of information from the individual who performs those duties to the individual who have demonstrated an interest in that particular area. The goal is to provide the Mentee with a true picture from someone who performs those duties on a daily basis. The advance of this process is to allow the Mentee an opportunity to experience first hand the ebb and flow of the day.
In an era of downsizing and cost cutting, the new CAREER BEGINNINGS Mentoring Program will allow everyone an opportunity to participate. Someone who is early in the process of creating their ”road map to success“ can either confirm their decision to seek that area of interest or make a career adjustment or job change and pursue another area of interest. Most traditional mentoring programs are geared toward star employees which equates to roughly 1/10th of the working staff. The CAREER BEGINNINGS Mentoring Program affords everyone an opportunity to a have sneak peak at the day-to- day work environment into their ”road map to success“.
What is the strong appeal of the CAREER BEGINNINGS Mentoring Program, the Mentee and the Mentor defines their ending point. Once the exchange of job information has been completed, the commitment ends. Historically, traditional mentor programs success rate has been less than 25% because the mentoring relationship never ends, both parties began to lose interest and the commitment and relationship fades. The uniqueness of this Mentoring Program would allow both parties to outline the goal. Once the goal has been met, both parties could either enter into another agreement formally, or meet on an informal basis periodically for updates and further clarification of a particular job interest.
The CAREER BEGINNINGS Mentoring Program will be introduced to high schools and colleges in 2005, which would allow students to define their career goals early, thus reducing the hit-and-miss process we all endure while navigating through our ”road map to success.“
Implementation
A. All participants must complete a short application to include the following:
Name
Current position within the company
Position or area of interest being sought (chose from the list provided)
If applicant to be a Mentee, Mentor or Both (make selection)
B. Sort applications by Mentee, Mentor or Both
C. Further sort applications by area of interest
D. Finally, each applicant to complete a short paragraph section on ”Who am I and How am I Seen“.
Once the short applications a have sorted, CAREER BEGINNINGS would facilitate the following sessions:
Facilitate the matching session which is designed to introduce
Mentor/Mentees
Review the Do’s and Don’t of mentoring with Menor/Mentees
Discuss the development of the contact agreement
Highlight planned activities
Personal Urban Financial Services (CAREER BEGINNINGS) will be available at each step of the process. Our experience and commitment will enable you to provide a service to your employees or students that will be highly acceptable and greatly appreciated.
Stage Two
Personal Urban Financial Services (CAREER BEGINNINGS) has a sub-division called Wideman-Two-Plus-Two. It’s a record and talent promotion company. It seeks out untapped talent within the community. Those individual that are young or old, that have been unable to obtain a record contract, or goal will be to promote those individuals on the internet and record a single song. As a charitable organization, our plans are to make this process affordable to all. We will record a single song at very low cost. This single song CD will be use to solicit to major record labels with ultimate goal of a record contact for one full CD with a major label.
Our backgrounds are as follows, as the founder, I have worked in corporate America for over thirty years. I have managed a division of over fifty individuals with responsibilities that included the managing of a staff, budgeting, projections and tax responsibilities. Next, my son is a graduate of Los Angles recording workshop. His internship and classes included video recording, radio and record sound engineering. Last, our final partner is major player on the club circuit. His guest list has included the who’s who of Chicago.
This short overview only provides a small portion of our desire, dedication and commitment to develop recording artist in the less fortunate areas of the City of Chicago and the outlying suburbs.
Stage Three
Personal Urban Financial Services (CAREER BEGINNINGS) has developed an employment service program that separates itself from all of the others because it explores the candidates’ mental state. Unlike most employment agencies, this program is geared towards the individual and its more than a mere resume writing and interview skill review. The program was developed because of the lack of support programs for the teenagers, blue collar worker and the nonexempt employee. This program should address the need of this ever growing population above within the community.
The ”One Stop Shopping Employment Services“ program is a group of related workshops that are designed to address resume writing, role playing for interviews and job seeking techniques.
Objective: One stop shopping employment services was designed to support individuals on how to cope with the lost of employment or seeking a career change or finding your first job. Here’s an opportunity to determine your net worth.
As a support system, we have discovered how imperative it became that we recognize the mental state of the individual. We as an employment service center must do more than the resume review and mock interviews. Our new challenge will be to assess talents and create support systems for the unskilled workforce.
Please note: Exploring the mental state is our first challenge. The lost of employment, or being unemployed for period time, or seeking employment for the first time, it’s important that you determine, ”who am I and how am I seen“. We will also provide you with techniques to steer successfully through your ”road map to success“.
This workshop has been divided into three parts: 1) Mental State, 2) Resume Review and 3) Goal Setting.
Personal Urban Financial Services (CAREER BEGINNINGS) will make every attempt to provide the community with programs that will be instrumental in the development of out youth and with the unskilled worker.
